A TASTE OF: Q-TIP'S 'THE RENAISSANCE'

"Gettin Up"
"Life Is Better" feat. Norah Jones
"The Renaissance"
"The Renaissance" is Available in Stores & Online Now!
Q-Tip is bringing up nostalgia with this album. Listening to it made me go back and listen to some of my old ATCQ albums, memories man. Q-Tip is a part of some classic records and he continues to hold it down, even after 20 years in the game. He is proof that hip-hop isn't dead, you just have to look for it in the right places.

BEYONCE GOES MRS. ROBOTO [AGAIN] FOR THE '08 MTV EMAS

It appears that

But atleast in that costume she could pretend she was paying homage to the Jackson 5 by dressing like the robot from the "Dancing Machine" video. This version is just boxy and looks like a Mama Knowles craft project gone wrong. But maybe this isn't Beyonce at all. That's right, I forgot, this is "Sasha Fierce" (who I am truly becoming convinced is an android, with every day that passes). Hence the wearing of the metal robot arm bracelet thing, that I predict will be showing up at swap meets and beauty supplies across America by Christmas. In any event, whether this was Sasha or B, it needs to stay in Solange's sketchbooks, and off of the stage. I loves me some Beyonce, but sometimes tough love is in order. Beyonce-boo, just say no!
JIM JONES, THE MUSICAL?

Jim Jones will reportedly be telling his life story in a musical, simply titled “The Jim Jones Project.” The show is set to take place November 12th and 13th in New York City.
“It’s a new and different way that Jim is showcasing his music. He’s taking his upcoming album and telling his life story via the album and the actors acting it out as a play to release his album,” a source explained to 24HourHipHop. “The upcoming album is the soundtrack to the play. We have two nights.” The times and venues have yet to be announced.
I'm really racking my brain trying to figure out what the audience for this little shindig is going to consist of, but I'm drawing a blank. Dipset fans are generally pretty loyal, but a musical? I wish him the best of luck on that endeavor.

FORMER TLC MEMBERS IN ACTION...
Here's some recent news on some ladies we haven't heard from in a while:

Former TLC member Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas is looking for stepdaddy material, and you'll never guess how she plans on finding him.[/sarcasm] You give up? Reality TV! She's jumped on the looking for love bandwagon. Chilli is currently working with American Idol producers to search for Atlanta's most eligible bachelors (which may soon include her former boo, Usher, from what I've been hearing). Anywho, they will be competing for her affection and a bag from her overpriced bag line. Ok, so I made that last part up, but seriously, $200 for a bag that Walmart sells for like $20 is not cool.
For any males in the Atlanta Area who are over the age of 21 (isn't she like 37, I'm just sayin), the info on how to apply can be found here.

In other TLC news, former group member Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins is having a garage sale in Houston, today thru Sunday. The sale was advertised on CraigsList and she's offering plenty of designer clothing from Gucci to Vera Wang at low low prices. Supposedly she's having the sale because she's about to be on "Celebrity Apprentice" and she needs to clean house, but my guess is she's having it because her phone bill is due.
I always think it's kinda sad when former stars have to resort to reality TV game shows for exposure, especially when they are people I admired coming up. But I guess it's a paycheck and, looking at it from another perspective, what are you really supposed to do after a successful career in music ends? Start working retail? Apply at your local call center? Then what would people say?
I'm just glad to hear they are both alive and well, and they both have projects of some kind coming up.

I BLAME MO'NIQUE.
Yep. She's thick ya'll. And if thats true I don't wanna know what her idea of fat is. "When I hit the scene, everybody gasping..." Well, she got one thing right, it's enough to take your breath away. And your appetite.

WHY MUST I CRY?
UPSET.

I can't even put into words the upset-ness that I am feeling right now. I'm just trying to come to grips with the fact that he was dead ass serious when he requested that hairstyle and that eyeliner. He approached his stylist (A.K.A. Chance) with a straight (and I use that term loosely) face and said "I want a smokey eye and a swoop."
IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

At this point I almost feel sorry for my new president-elect. He's got a lot to deal with. Our economy is in shambles, the country is at war, and, to top it all off, men who were rejected by a woman who was rejected by Flava Flav are running around looking for love and trying to stay relevant. Yes I mean you, "Stallionaires". Although, I must give you some props because it is my firm belief that you guys are singlehandedly keeping the ProStyl protein gel company in business. My baby-hair thanks you. But back to my original point: this country is a scary place.
And in this time of turmoil, Barack Obama is not only going to be expected to fix it all, but to make every move perfectly as he does. It's the age old story for African Americans. We have to do twice as much and work twice as hard to get half as far as our white counterparts. Every move he makes will be graded, and he doesn't have the same learning curve all our previous president's had. One mistake, one misstep, and people start questioning whether we should have ever elected a black man as president in the first place. His presidency could very well be the determining factor on whether our first black president, will also be our last black president. Quite a bit of pressure for one man.
I've really said all this to say that I sincerely hope I am wrong. I hope that people realize that Barack Obama is only human, and thus entitled to a mistake here and there. I hope we all can begin to hold ourselves accountable to make positive changes for our country. And more than anything I hope that in the future we can continue to elect presidents who reflect the diversity of our nation. In any event, I voted for this man because I believe he is highly capable of performing the tasks at hand. The road ahead isn't going to be an easy one. We have 8 years of damage to undo, and it won't be undone overnight, but I believe we've chosen the right man to lead us through this time and bring us together as a country.
